RIYADH — Al-Hilal head coach Simone Inzaghi and defender Yusuf Akçiçek expressed full confidence ahead of their AFC Champions League Elite fourth-round fixture against UAE side Shabab Al-Ahli at the Kingdom Arena.
Addressing reporters during a joint press conference at the Almajdiah Sport Hub, Inzaghi outlined his team’s tactical focus and squad preparation. The Italian manager stressed that the technical staff continues to work closely with the squad during training sessions to refine their attacking identity, build tactical versatility, and maximize the positional depth across the roster. He reaffirmed Al-Hilal’s status as a perpetual contender across all competitions, noting that the pressure to win trophies serves as an empowering force for the squad rather than a burden.
Akçiçek echoed his manager’s focused sentiment, pointing to the significance of securing three points at home in front of the home supporters. The young center-back emphasized that representing a club of Al-Hilal’s caliber requires constant mental readiness and continuous improvement, whether selected in the starting lineup or called upon as a substitute. He highlighted the squad’s determination to bring joy to the fanbase while acknowledging the challenge presented by their Emirati opponents.
With Al-Hilal managing a demanding schedule across domestic and continental campaigns, Inzaghi noted the importance of squad rotation and tactical flexibility. The Riyadh side aims to capitalize on home advantage at Kingdom Arena to fortify their standing in the regional tournament.
