SYLHET — West Indies captain Roston Chase won the toss and opted to bat first against Bangladesh in the second and final Test at the Sylhet International Cricket Stadium. The visiting side enters the match aiming to secure a 2–0 series sweep following an eight-wicket victory in the opening Test at Dhaka.
Both teams introduced tactical changes to their starting XI. West Indies handed a Test debut to top-order batter Kevin Wickham and welcomed back wicketkeeper-batter Joshua Da Silva, who replaced John Campbell and Tage Chanderpaul after both were ruled out due to viral illness. For Bangladesh, veteran batter Mushfiqur Rahim returned to the squad following a finger injury, while pacer Taskin Ahmed was brought back into the attack, replacing Shoriful Islam and Mominul Haque.
Host captain Najmul Hossain Shanto leads Bangladesh into a crucial match as the team seeks to level the series and pick up valuable points in the ICC World Test Championship standings. With Bangladesh deploying a three-pronged spin bowling attack, the Sylhet pitch is expected to offer increasing assistance to spinners as the match progresses, placing high priority on the West Indies’ first-innings batting effort.
