Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Iraq, H.E. Mr Fuad Hussein, arrived in Amman, the capital of Jordan, on Sunday evening, 21 June 2026, to participate in the resumed proceedings of the 165th Ordinary Session of the Council of the League of Arab States at the level of Foreign Ministers, scheduled to be held on Monday.
The meeting is expected to address a number of issues of common concern, as well as the political and security developments taking place in the region, in addition to the items included on the Council’s agenda.
Prior to the official ministerial session, Arab foreign ministers will hold a consultative meeting aimed at coordinating positions and exchanging views on the issues under discussion, thereby contributing to the enhancing of joint Arab action and supporting efforts to address the current regional challenges.
The meeting is also expected to discuss a number of agenda items, foremost among them the approval of the appointment of former Egyptian Foreign Minister Mr. Nabil Fahmy as Secretary-General of the League of Arab States, based on the mandate granted by Arab leaders during the most recent Arab Summit.
