RIYADH — The executive office of the Arab Cybersecurity Ministers Council convened its fourth official session virtually on Wednesday, advancing joint regional defense measures and technical frameworks across member states. Chaired by Saudi Arabia—represented by the Governor of the National Cybersecurity Authority, Eng. Majed Al-Mazyed—the meeting gathered senior ministry officials, member state representatives, and the council’s Secretary-General, Dr. Ibrahim bin Saleh Al-Furaih, to harmonize regional digital security policies under the League of Arab States framework.
The high-level discussions served as a key preparatory assembly for the council’s upcoming third regular ministerial session, scheduled to convene in Doha, Qatar, in late November. As cyber threats become increasingly sophisticated across critical national infrastructure, pan-Arab coordination aims to establish unified standards, protect regional economic hubs, and build resilient defense networks against escalating digital vulnerabilities.
Demonstrating concrete progress under the Arab Cybersecurity Strategy, the executive office formally sanctioned several joint operational programs. Among these initiatives is a comprehensive Arab program dedicated to building institutional capacity and raising public security awareness across the region. Additionally, delegates evaluated technical guidelines designed to strengthen individual national cybersecurity architectures, ensuring member countries adopt standardized protocols for incident response and legislative harmonization.
Established under the umbrella of the Arab League, the council functions as the primary ministerial authority charged with formulating overarching cybersecurity priorities, approving joint security action plans, and fostering cross-border collaboration across economic, security, and legislative domains. The council’s ongoing efforts reflect a growing commitment among Arab nations to pool resources, exchange technical expertise, and secure critical digital infrastructure against regional cyber threats.
